Looking for carburetor

Looking for a ready to run carburetor for a 1948 F5 8cylinder flathead; Am trying to decide whether to have mine rebuilt or just try to buy one already done.
As always all help is greatly appreciated.

Welcome to FTE!

These carbs are relatively simple to rebuild. I did mine, and I'm no mechanic.

If you have to ask you might want to pickup a can of carb spray cleaner and a tooth brush.

A picture would help. There weren't too many options back then.

Carb rebuilding is a good winter chore you can do inside. You'll want to soak it outside first. These old carbs are dirt simple if you can follow some simple instructions like adjusting the float. Getting them clean is truly 98% of the fight. Soaking it immersed in some profession strength solvent is best, but a guy can often get by with quality aerosol carb cleaner, and an air nozzle. The guys here will help you with the few things that need to be inspected and adjusted. There are only a couple things that can truly wear out on a vintage one barrel carb.

Question on 1995 F-150

I am hoping that this pickup is old enough to ask this question. If not please let me know.
My brother is looking for running boards for his 1995 F-150. On the title it says Body: Supercab pickup and Model: LGT Convtnl. If someone knows a place to buy those without it costing a lot of money it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Back to the carburetor. Clean and look it over very closely. Sometimes these old carbs get so corroded internally or have been cobbled by someone with good intentions but no knowledge, they're not worth rebuilding. These carbs are quite simple and rebuilding one is not all that difficult. Just start with a solid core.

Question on rims

Does anyone know if someone makes a rim/wheel adapter for the 1949 F5? This apparently has the "widow maker" rims as we can not find a split ring.

As always all help is appreciated! Thank you.
