1980 f100 EFI swap troubles
#16
Thanks Shadow.
I haven't finished my first cup this morning, so still groggy here also. LOL.
I will grab the pcm out of a known running truck I have with an auto tranny. I am still waiting for the push start TFI module. (I have a black and a grey one on the way to test both).
I have not had time to test the ignition thoroughly. As far as the wiring is concerned, I have checked over 90% of it and continuity tested all the pins for the pcm connector for the wiring to the sensors and battery.
I only suspect a vacuum leak because the way the motor stumbles then screams back to life (firing on all cylinders) and then back to stumbling again before dying altogether. Then again, chasing gremlins, could be multiple issues. I will have some pics up this weekend. I need to start a build thread.
This f100 is turning into a big project. I have the new motor installed and will be converting to SAS (d60 front, sterling rear.) I have a np435 with bw1356 tcase.
But currently a RAT 3 speed is installed due to driveshaft length.

Not a problem, just remember it will throw codes out the butt and may end up in limp mode with the auto tranny PCM but it should still fire up and idle like it should regardless of that. Hopefully you can get it up and running soon, I always enjoy reading long winded builds like this and seeing the end result.
