It can't be an October thread already

Arrived back home by 9:30 last night, the 405 and 101 were amazingly fluid on a Friday night. The alcohol and other chemistry are to avoid bringing in bacteria/fungi on our feet, hands, clothes. Some of these nasties are seed borne, so best to be careful and avoid spreading them from one field to another. In some greenhouses, we change into different colored jumpsuits for each production; it's a crazy day of getting into and out of clothes. Anyway, was nice and toasty at LAX last night, must have been warm here...
Temperatures reached 108 in Camarillo about 1 p.m. Friday, breaking the previous record for any day of the year in the city since the Weather Service started keeping track in 1948 — 103 degrees on Sept. 24, 1978.
“It’s the hottest (temperature) ever recorded in Camarillo,” said Joe Sirard, a meteorologist with the Weather Service.
The high also broke the monthly record of 102 set in October 1971, and the daily record of 96 set on Oct. 9, 1976, the agency reported. And it matched Death Valley’s high of 108 to share honors as the hottest spot in the nation Friday.

Wow, it is hotter there than up here. We have no days predicted to be over 100 in the 10 day forecast. Hottest it will get is 96 today, then tapers off to 82 on the tenth day.

What makes it even stranger, Jim, is that Camarillo is on a coastal alluvial plain, with LOTS of marine influence.
Obviously, there was an off-shore breeze, but still, record highs in October!
The stars musta' aligned just right.
