component ID

'99 F250 5.4,

Under hood on driver's side near the fender, there is a black plastic component about the size of a 2 liter bottle. What is it?

That is what you replace, when they/you, overfill your tank too many times.
Not very cheap, either.

My '83 F-150 was running rough, when I replaced mine.
It felt empty but replacing it cured its ills.

Stuff in this century may react differently.
