I like this article. I spend a good amount of time each month on the freeway and have come to believe that my state breeds "left lane Larrys". People who just will not move out of the left lane. In my experience this is often younger drivers that have not been properly trained how to drive. Five minutes driving with my father (person who taught me how to drive) would have been a quick learning moment for these left lane drivers. Pops was never one to sugar coat his message.

The officer explained it like this: "The spirit of the law is that since many people drive well above the speed limit, it creates an 'accordion effect' as traffic starts backing up behind the slower vehicle. This is where many of our crashes occur on the interstates. It’s all in the name of safety."
Vox has an explainer for why many say it’s actually safer to allow cars on the left lane to drive a bit faster.
"Even if you’re driving fast, there’s almost always someone going faster than you," it reads. "So if you get back over to the right immediately after passing, that car will be able to pass you, which lets everybody to get to their destination more quickly. Otherwise, traffic builds up, raising safety risks."

I drive the I-25 corridor during early rush hour here. I've never seen the police watching for speeders or slowpokes. A couple times I've hit the speed limiter on my car. The slowpokes in the left lane do seem to be clueless and traffic backs up behind them. I studied queuing theory in college so I definitely understand the accordion effect.

Problems, problems......with clueless drivers!!!! Come here for a little while!!!!! We have the issue of foreigners flying into Vegas, renting a car and driving to the Grand Canyon Skywalk. Most have absolutely no clue about our driving laws, rules, etc. I think this year alone, where they turn off highway 93 they have killed 30+!!!! 93 is a 4 lane divided highway, (NOT FREEWAY)and they must make a left turn across the north bound lanes. They are too dumb to stop for oncoming traffic!!! Not a derogatory statement, just fact. Let alone stay out of the passing lane!!!
We probably have some of the worst driver's in the country in Louisiana. Illiterate's with no insurance..no license..and some driving on multiple DWI's. Think these asses will get out of the left lane to let someone pass!! I've been a licensed driver since 1962 and drove professionally for about 14 yrs and the driver's now are the worse I've ever seen.
Howdy guys, just paid a little visit to a Kubota dealer yesterday and purchased a new Kubota MX4800 tractor. I kept the options light since it is going to primarily be used only to run a 6-foot flail mower. I got the loader, 4x4, and hydrostatic transmission. I also tried out an MX5200 (same motor but turbocharged for 4 extra horsepower) with a fully manual transmission and a reverse shuttle. This machine came in a little cheaper than the hydro 4800, but I found the low range gears to be too slow, and the high range gears to be too fast...plus some overlap between ranges. Frankly, I really like my Kubota with the Glide-Shift transmission, but that is not offered on the MX series. I have one other Kubota with a hydro transmission and it works well...but this new tractor's hydro is even smoother.
I'd post pics but alas...the dealer won't have it ready for me to pick up until July 3. They have to install the loader and load the rear tires with 1000lbs of beet juice.
