ignition switch?
i have a 87 f150, 300-6 cyl. when i hook up battery it tries to start even without turning key. the battery cables get very hot....please help! thx in advance kdbbmanton@juno.com

Replace the starter relay on the fender by the battery. It has welded itself together, and even if you tap it to break it loose, it's too badly damaged to be reliable. They're only ~$18 new at a decent parts store and are easy to change. Just be sure to put the battery cable onto the post FIRST and then all the other ring terminals after.
