My daughter learned because that was all that we had. I borrowed a neighbor's car that had a auto when she took her test. I tried to teach my son how after he already had his license, that was a mistake. Said buying that truck was the dumbest thing that I ever did because no one could drive it. I had already been driving it for 10 years.

 

It is sad they dont teach people how to drive a manual anymore. I was always told if I could drive a manual I can drive pretty much any vehicle out there. Which is true.

 

I learned on a 51 Ford Custom with 3 on the tree.

Manuals are getting to be a thing of the past.

Even the service adviser at the Ford garage can't drive my truck. SAD

 

That it is Rick. I will always prefer a manual tranny over an automatic. Just a bit more control in my book.

2008 was the last year for the F150 Rick. in 09 they had dropped it along with the 4.2L v6 that it was mated to. () and 10 was an all v8 engine line up with 2 different automatics. The 4 speed that I have and the 6 speed. The 4 speed was only available with the 4.6L 2 valve v8.

 

Day was good.. Worked all day and finished the last part of the server work so now I can get paid...

My BIL bought his last truck in 1998, has always driven a regular cab gmc with a manual trans. He didn't know gm stopped making the manual. Now he's pissed.
