Yours have probably been worn for a long time and with 1-2 syncronizers getting worn (grinding a little) it probably finished off the fork with the extra pressure you had to put on it to get it to go in gear.

Check into a rebuild, but I expect it to not be cheap. A complete used trans may be your best option, cheaper than a rebuild, and give you several more years of service. Check into both options and go from there.

The guy who i bought my truck from said the tranny was rebuilt. The sycronizers are still good from what i saw. I also heard that bad forks can cause grinding. Idk if thats true or not

Yep. She's worn pretty bad. You can find a top and swap it out and get by for a while, but like I said before, the syncro's aren't far behind. If it were mine, i would try to build up the end of that fork by welding it up and grinding it into shape. Nothing to lose. It's broke now and if it doesn't work it will still be broke!

The forks don't contribute to the grinding. They only push on the parts that do grind. The syncro's slow the gears down so they "slip" together without grinding. It's possible it got new bearings and seals and that was all. People have different ideas on what "rebuilt" means!

Colorado should be full of gearhead shops. Thy to find one that does either nothing but 4x4 or nothing but light duty drive train. They tend to be the most resourceful.
