Borrowed from CCF...

I've received many remarkable nature photographs over the years, but this photo of a nesting Falcon is perhaps the most remarkable nature shot that I've ever seen. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Nature is truly remarkable! I've sent this to most of my older friends. The younger ones probably have never seen a Falcon and wouldn't recognize it if they did.

Right-hand-drive and eucalyptus are clues that this is an Aussie Falcon.

'60 - '61. I believe the four-door rear pillar became wider in '62.

And if someone isn't careful, that rear axle just might land on their head!

Fast growth is one reason the railroads brought them to America. They made great windbreaks along sand dunes.

They also believed they would eventually grow their own fuel to fire the boilers.

well once again i remembered to snap a few crappy cellphone pictures for a show and tell post here in SoCal!

had to install 9 VERY EXPENSIVE!!!!! cameras today at this job im working on in Bakersfield. the challenge was there is a 50' wide "planter of gravel" at each end of the building....and the contractor stated that if we drove a 4x4 man lift into the gravel we would be kicked off the job...

so que in a 125' boom lift that has a maximum of 63' of horizontal reach!

the rental i got is a 2008 JLG model 1250AJP.... with a DEUTZ 4cyl diesel engine with a screaming 74HP. Maximum platform height of 125' acording to the data plate on my rental that beast weighed in at a little over 44k LBS!!!

and if your wondering! its about $1100 dollars to get that machine delevered to your job for the day, and about $800 a day after that.

here is a few size comparisons with my 21' long truck!

my only daytime shot after the tule fog cleared up a little. i was about 50' up and about 58' stretched out horizontally. overlooking the blossoming orchards that surround the building. and yes the bees were out in force today

and of course a couple under the hood shots!

engine and hydraulic pump

from left to right, 30ish gallon Diesel tank, hydraulic oil tank, oil filter and just below it the swing motor, and last but not least a monstrous control valve and jungle of hoses!

What? You didn't tow that to the job site with your truck?

I agree with Sean, I would not want to be in that thing at max extension.

the building in the background is 45' tall to the top.... at 50' i took the one picture.... at roughly 60' i chickened out and boomed down and got back to work!

when you have your "legs" for a manlift its sometimes fun (but a little mean )to shake and bounce the basket with a newb up there with you....

now i will say, when im alone in the basket of any lift i am ok with it because i know the movement of the basket is caused by me and expect it, but when i have to take a helper with me i cannot expect there movements and i get a bit tense.

Genie which is another large maker of man lifts has a model that will go upto 180'!!!!!!!!!!!! i believe the model number is SX-180

Wow, the King of Man lifts! So what does one of those cost? Half a mil?

edit: Never mind, you can get a brand new one for $212,900 (Google is your friend.) Of course, that does not include the tractor trailer rig you will need to haul it to the job site.

Uh, you'll need more cash for the V12 Ghost. Scary how little a buck will get you in 2015.
