How NOT to use a recovery strap

Not directly related to F-150s (though it does include a Ford). Mods, please move if needed.

I spit my coffee out watching this. It's a good thing no one was hurt. Enjoy!

LOL. Isn't that one of those things that most of us learn when we're like 5 years old, and we have to pull our buddy's tricycle back up onto the sidewalk. Did you hear that moron say "That's what you do with these straps. You just go."? Well he sure went, LOL!!!

Sadly that idiot probably said Ford builds a POS truck after this adolescent stunt.

Whoops.

Looks like he's gonna be paying dearly for his stupidity. Good to see the cameraman was there to put it all in perspective.

Best line:

"Well that's what you do with these straps, you just go" - Driver/Idiot
"No" - Camera man

My personal favorite was:

"I didn't think it would rip the tow hook off the truck" - Driver/Idiot

"I didn't think you were going 20 backwards" - Camera man

IDK ... looked like a successful recovery to me.

the truck is no longer stuck, and the strap didn't break.

i'd like to know what kind of strap he had ... i think i'd go buy one.

Everyone will probably give me a hard time for this, but I've always used a chain for recovery operations

Never had this kind of problem. Light "tug" usually gets them out

Note: You have 2 types of straps, recovery and towing, towing used in a recovery situation is a deal gone bad. Recovery (Snap Strap) are 10,000lbs per inch if you are looking to purchase a quality strap. Bumper to Bumper is not a problem unless you are in an ice situation where you could actually snap yourself back into the vehicle.

Attachments points are to be solid, no exemptions or damage will incur such as this video. Do not hook the strap over a ball on your hitch, it will shear.
