I might do that but my experience has been that Autocrossing is more strenuous on the driveline than a sprint race on a road course. We'll see how this beefed up Porsche transaxle behaves once I get it to move under its own power...
I know of a few campgrounds in the area within 20 miles.. If nothing else, I have a big back yard!
The deal-breaker for T5's is tires that actually hook up and make that box have to withstand the torque. 3rd and 5th gear are the two achilles heals of T5 boxes... When I used to race in SCCA American Sedan class, we called the T5 a consumable.. It was more or less a fuse that would blow when you were pushing over 400hp through them.
I purposely have an open differential in this G50 gearbox of mine as I would rather just have one tire go up in smoke than to stall all that torque out inside the box and start shredding gears.. If I were racing it, I would have to get a stronger Porsche 930 gearbox with an LSD and live without fifth gear.
We'll see if we can piece together a GTG for this summer if you guys want..
