Hi everyone. So, decided to remove the old gas tank. it had about 5 gallons of gas in it, so I thought I'd loosen the bolts then decide how to proceed. doh! broke the bolt while laying under the truck and the one side of the tank dropped. I got soaked by gasoline. Fun fun. I quickly propped it back up with some blocks and siphoned most of it out and got the tank out of there. So now I have a gallon of crappy gas in there (some sludge at the bottom of the old tank). How do you get rid of a gallon of crap gas? It's just sitting in my driveway evaporating, but that could take a while.

Howdy Steve. Not sure if you could take it to a local garage, sometimes those guys have tanks they dump old fluids to for recycling/disposal. I know my mechanic allows me to take all my used oil and stuff to him for that.

Hi Steve! Just make sure you film it, if you use Neil's method....LOL!!

That sucks about that bolt breaking like that!! I bet you about crapped yourself when you got covered in gas! FYI, you can take that tank to a radiator shop, and have them boil it out for you. Make sure to take the float assem. out.

Hi Pat. Hi Bill. Yeah, freaked me out a bit. Pat, I'm just chucking the tank. I bought a new one. I just have to get rid of the gas. I guess I'll take Bill's advice and ask my mechanic. He sure is getting a ton of work from me because of my other cars.

Good idea asking the mechanic. I give old gas to my MIL, she uses it to light her burn barrel.

My mechanic pays a small stipend for a company to come take some stuff for recycling. The used oil, he has a furnace he burns it in during the winter.

He'll love me with the diesel now - bringing him oil in gallons as opposed to quarts...lol..
