Your truck with the 3:54's originally probably came with a 300 I6 so the radiator would have been different

thanks redroad
My truck actually never ran hot with the 351W. I do think the PO changed it because it has the fittings for an automatic on the bottom and my truck is a 4-speed. How about the mirrors on that bronco? Will they fit?

Yes westies and westies Jr will fit your current doors, that radiator might be a 4 core BB radiator? Take your old seat slider and bolt it on to the bottom of up to a 96 and put it back in and be happy.

Super Cooling radiator (26 1/4" wide x 24 11/16" high). The top tank is HUGE, it's wider and deeper than the standard/xtra cooling & A/C radiators (that are 26 1/4" x 19 3/4"), overlaps the core.

Thanks Rich

I was cleaning some parts today and noticed that the mount that the transmission mount attaches to (goes between the crossmember and the trans mount) has some rust holes. Is this something a welder can fix or do I just buy one in better shape from redorad (hint, hint)

A couple of paint questions:

Does the shield between the transmission and engine get painted?

Should the fan/pulleys/brackets be gloss or semi-gloss?

I do not think redorad has one....but sounds like "redroad" might. lol Sorry I had to.

Repair it if the rest of the metal is solid enough to handle a repair. Other wise new or one in better shape is a smart call.

Paint the flex plate....it will probably never be seen, I would only paint to rust proof it, if needed. Looks like it had some blue on it before.

What ever color of black you are using on the rest of the eng components.

Keep in mind that a new one is something like $25 I think, so it's not a big deal if you have to replace it.

A new trans mount or a new shield? I was looking for the trans mount but couldn't find it. I could only find the insulator that goes between this bracket and the transmission itself. Can you point me to where I can fins a new one?

I think this is what you're after. $15 in the top right of the page. I've bought from this company before.

Thanks Jackson. I ordered a new trans mount. The part they don't reproduce is the bracket I showed a picture of with the rust holes. This bolts to the crossmember and the trans mount bolts to it.

Thanks redroad. As far as the knucles go, I see them come up on eBay from time to time already machined for crossover steering. Could I use trhese even in a stock setup? (no crossover steering)? My budget is getting out of control and it looks like it will cost at least $1000 to just lift the truck the 4" and then I have to buy all new tires. I figure if I bought these machined ones and installed them, but did the lift another time, I wouldnt have to re-remove them.

Thanks for checking, redroad. I found one in the classifieds section.

I also just got a shipment in from Bronco Graveyard. I bought the cab bushing kit as well as the framesavers and had a quick question. Are the diameters of the bushing holes for the two front cab mounts the same? The framesaver kit came with two different size 'washers' and when I lined them up, the one circled in red matches the diameter of the good mount. Is the smaller diameter for the core support? Or maybe a different cab mount? There were no real instructions. I want to take this over to the welder today to have him repair the mount.

And lastly, I am going to look at a bunch of parts from a '79 tomorrow/Saturday that has both a D60 front end as well as 4" lift. It was one of the links that redroad sent me. He wants $1650 for the Dana (with driveshaft and cast iron blocks) and $700 for leaf springs. I'm probably going to pass on the Dana (I found another one with 4.10 gears that has chrome-moly axles and Reid racing knuckles for less) but I think the springs might be a good deal, unless buying them used is a bad idea.
