I have searched several hundred threads for a picture of the install of the custom panels that goes on the back wall of a 53 behind the seats. I am installing bucket seats and I bought the headliner, kick panels and those 2 pieces that go behind the seats in hard board from Hot Rods Truck Parts. But for the life of me I can't figure out how they go in. I have turned them every which way and they just don't line up. There are a couple of screw holes in each edge except one and one side has a small piece of cloth sewn to it. Anyone ever done this install? There were no instruction with the kit except how to install the headliner and those are not very good. Any help or pics would be greatly appreciated.
Hey Arctic Y Block I forget how easy it is to post pics now that I'm a supporter! I thought these panels would be standard in all kits. Thats what I get for thinkin! Here are some pics of them and where they are suppose to go. Also these panels are 34 inches by 30 inches. They should fit on the back cab wall and I'm not sure what the small black piece is that is stitched across the top of the panel. At first I thought it was cloth but upon closer look it is just a thicker piece of cardboard. Any ideas how they fit?
I did not use the cardboard in my 53 but I think that the notches go at the bottom behind the door. The one on the right in your picture would go behind the passenger seat and the other behind the driver. The "tabs" would fit into the door pillar. I would think that there should be a center retainer where they would meet in the middle behind the seat. I may be all wet, but that is what it looks like to me. Good luck.
Thanks Okiedokie, I am thinking the same thing. When I first looked at them in the truck I wasn't picturing them with a bend in the corners but after taking the photo and looking at them I believe once I dampen them and put the bend in for the corners they will fit.
