Ok, so newbie here (to the forum) and I am having my '67 F100, 3 on the Tree, 352ci shipped to me next week (flew to GA from OK to look at and purchase her). I am excited about possible small incremental upgrades and wanted opinions from the professionals:

1) New headers (Hooker vs Flowtech)?

2) Duals out the back or exit either side before the tires?
Is this simply an appearance thing or is airflow/sound affected?

3) Which mufflers? I know this one is subjective, and there are lots out there.

4) Air cleaner assembly. Is there an advantage to upgrading this other than looks, and if so which one from where? Ha!

VIN: F10YCB27217 if it helps!

Ok, like I said, I am new to owning this truck but know a lot about the '67 from my dad owning one!

Any other suggestions I would appreciate as well!

Thanks guys!

Professionals? Hmm.. how about "very experienced hobbyists"?

Welcome to FTE and the Bumpside Brethren.

First verify she is roadworthy - verify lights, turn signals, horn, steering, and brakes. Do a tune up and change all fluids to establish a baseline.

1./2. Headers and dual exhaust (2.25 inch minimum) should be the first upgrade. Let your budget be your guide... Flowtechs, Hedmans, Hooker, on the budget end and Sanderson, Ford Powertrain, and Stan's on the top end.

3. Yup.. mufflers. You decide. Terminate the ends beyond the body line so the bed doesn't act like an echo chamber. Most will opt to exit out the back or the passenger side. Have you ever tried to order in a drive-thru with the exhaust bouncing off the building?

4. An open element air cleaner is worth a few HP. A 14x3 filter will do ya fine. Mustangs Plus has an inexpensive one for $33 or so.

F10YCB27217

F10= F100 2wd
Y = 352 ci. V8
C = Ontario, CAN assembly plant
B27217 = Consecutive Unit Number... May 1967

Thanks HIO Silver! That's just the kind of information I needed. "3" would have caught me off guard for sure! She is road worthy indeed. I have most of the receipts from the local shop the guy used to get her in shape. He did say it was due for an oil change, so yes that will get done first!

Glad to be a part of this awesome group!

VIN series code F10 does not decode to "pickup" until 1973.

Since these trucks were available as a Cab & Chassis, Flareside & Styleside pickups, with factory installed Flat & Stake beds, F10 refers to all of them.

Welcome to FTE
Flotechs are inexpensive ,I had install Clarence issues when i put them on mine .
as for Mufflers what do you want dragster loud or just a little purr ?
chrome air cleaner will give you more air than the stock one
oh and i have the side exhaust with 2 chamber flo master (summit brand)
I just turn the truck off in drive thru to order.

Mikes, I am not going for dragster anything really, but I want a good sounding purr. I prefer not to wake my neighbors, but want to know it's grabbing by standers attention as well...(not a good description I know). I have also read about some clearance issues with the Flowtechs, so I am leaning towards Hooker with rear exits. All I need now is the in between!

Thanks!

I think you'd be happy with a good old set of turbo mufflers , little rumble but not too loud .
exit out the back and don't forget the crossover pipe or an x pipe .
