Richs Ol red's thread

I at least got it starting now, even took it for a mini road trip. And a honest pic of when the carb gave up followed by the battery.
Have not been out of the shop and in the sun light for a few years...
I sold the 35's a while back and neutered it by putting on some 265's. lol I have a set of 39.5's for it when the time comes.

I had a buddy needing some trail rig/mud tires so I hooked him up. And that $ will go back into ol red.
Here is a bit of history on it.
All stock farm truck.
6" lift from Skyjacker w/front and rear leaf springs. 36 mil takeoffs, Hedeman fenderwell exit header w/stacks (stupid loud). Edelbrock intake and a holly carb. Some crazy bucket seats and Blackhawk helicopter seat belts.
FTE buddy did the paint and body work, I did the interior paint. Swapped in a 351M with way less miles a while back. Yes we drove off in it after the wedding...wife's idea.
Then 35" boggers, then 35" TSl SX's on the front and different boggers on the rear.

Yes sorry it is not a real step by step build. X1000 Alan FTE member earthquake68 did an awesome body and paint job. I am trying to get the interior completed, its painted just have to put it all back together now.
New dash pad is on, Craig 2 post cassette player is in, with under dash 40W power booster. Once the rest of the interior is all in, I am going to get the 2004 Ford SD CC rear seat that is black leather with fold down arm rest to fit nicely. Mod up some cab climb in handles, and then make some nerf bars.
Color sand/buff the outside, re-emblem/badge, decide on chrome grill insert/headlight bezels or all black. Get the flat bed on, and wire it up, mount up the 39.5's...put the twin front shock kit and double steering stabilizer's on. Mount the old school Go Rhino axle skid plates.
So not much really. lol

"Relatively" speaking. lol But in all actuality with a full time day job, wife, and 5 grandkids to entertain at certain times. 2 other Ford trucks, 2 early Bronco projects and another Hillbilly Bug project, I am very busy.
And now it's cold out....DD for ol red when its done, you betcha.

I know, I was kidding because you said you were very busy so it would take a while to get finished

Just got done going thru your thread. I actually enjoy doing paint and body work and like you experienced, some dent and dings just multiply. Alan did a great job on getting it straight again. Truck is looking great and it is nice when you build them instead of buying them. Not sure if you ever get completed on a project, seems like something else always comes up. Maybe sometime if you guys have a GTG I could come and help you out on your truck. I enjoy working on someone else's projects as much as I like working on mine.

When I got that truck in 2006 it was painted with house paint...Alan did an awesome job on it. Yes something always comes up, like other projects. But I am getting back on it.
My some in law helped me yesterday, seal checked the cab lights (mount bolts and wiring) and then got the headliner put in.

XLT headliner installed the other day.
Installed the park light lens.
Installed glove box liner.
Installed black Ranger XLT badged glove box door.
Cleaned up and painted my cowl badges...might knock off the high edge part and go back to chrome?
Painted my headlight bezels black.
Repaired my grill insert. To be painted black later after repair dries.
Painted my core support black.
Still left to do...short list anyway.
Instrument cluster hook up and ck that all bulbs work after I overhauled it, then install, followed by the dash bezel.
Bed liner paint bottom 1/2 of doors (from bottom of door panel) and install overhauled black w/stainless steel strip door panels.
Bed liner paint both cab side kick panels, paint lower back interior part of cab. Mock up mount for Super Duty rear seat w/fold down arm rest.
Install re-dyed seat belts.
Decide if I want to bed liner the complete cab floor. I have a new rubber mat to put down.
Install cab climb handles, install newer year cab door seals.
And ...and ....and....
