Is the Ecoboost Worth it?

Funny story, my wife is a cheap date and that's been a great attraction for me through the years, so we stopped at Wendy's for a bite.
Anyway, the local Ford dealer is right next door. So, we started teasing each other about which Pony car we'd get if the time were right to buy.
After downing a nice juicy burger I went around the corner and we pulled into the dealer. Real funny, when sales people see someone in a newer model F-150 stop and look, they tend to get excited. I suppose it means I can buy if I want to.
Still sitting in the truck, a nice man approaches and says, I can get you into a 2013 F-150 4x4 same color XLT for the same payment as you are making now. So I says, "which engine"? To which he replies, "the V-8", meaning 5.0L. I let this *** puppet ramble on about how the gas mileage is virtually the same. He's doing his dance thinking he's got my interest so he's trying everything. He sees that my city only MPG's are 17 and that I have 28K on the clock.
Once he finishes, with a big smile on my face I asked him what the trade off would be for changing out of the ecoboost to a 5.0L. He says that most people are concerned about MPG's. I ask again, and he says with a smirk, "LOW END PULLING POWER". My wife lets the cat out of the bag that I live on FTE. He concedes and bids us a good night.

Well................ from this thread, I have learned that my V10 will last longer than any V8 up to 6.8L.
What a comforting thought.
You have to wonder where some folks get this stuff from. I would still love an EB F150, but the SD is almost paid off, and I hesitate to get back into more payments. I do get my EB fix, however, with our '13 Explorer Sport. LOVE that 3.5L EB, and our fuel economy is amazing at significantly over EPA ratings. Not bad for an almost 5000lb SUV driving up and down mountains all the time.

I am really happy with my choice.

I was different however, I bought the truck for the package and it happened to come with the EB. The other identical truck had the 5.0L and 3.55 gears and was plain white.
Tuxedo black was the clear choice here and it turned out to be a great choice engine wise as well. I don't believe that I'm exceeding the MPG's of the 5.0L much or at all, but I'm at the high end of Ford's EPA estimates which is at least 25% better than the 5.4L and the 6.2L.

Completely disagree. I was looking at a full size truck, and fuel economy was possibly the most important thing for me. I drive 60 miles to work and back every day, and I have to support my family as well as be able to tow my trailer. The truck with the lowest operating cost won, which was the F150 that I bought.

MPG absolutly does matter. If you have two credible brands both offer similar trucks, for the similar cost. Both make reasonable the same power/tq but one gest 2-3 mpg better. Pff youd be stupid not to get the truck with the better MPG.
Basically thats where we are today. The playing field is very level. Each company brings a formidable truck to the table and each has its strengths and weakenss's. But on a scale that is universal....MPG... will sell...
And thats what we are seeing with Eboost sales. The EPA number are better than most options and they are out selling any other truck engine right now. Most peole that buy vehicles arent as brand loyal as people that get on forums. They just buy what appeals.
