Orginal or modify??
Is a 1960 f-100 side step worth more orginal or modified. I know guns are worth more orginal even rough than if modified. Second question, I have not seen the truck yet, is there anything that I need to walk away from not matter the price. I have talked to the individual, he has started making some changes not too difficult to undue. The floor in the bed is there but rotted out but he has a second bed. Installed bucket seats and 3 in the floor. Only one side window has a crack. He took the tank out to clean and never did and it is still out but there. Orginal moter and carb. He said it will run if you pour gas into the carb. He said the only rust to the body is on one rear fender with two small spots. Extra good hood, extra chrome bumpers Good battery, new coil points and condensor. Any advice would be appreciated at this point.
Third question, what are these trucks going for that need work but sound? Sorry no pictures at this point I know that would help a lot.
Thanks in advance.

This is a reoccuring question that never really gets answered to the satisfaction of the asker. The truck is only worth what it is worth to you. You can compare trucks of similar condition and see selling prices but it is not an exact science. Sounds like a good starting point though! Wouldn't take all that much to get it back on the road from the sounds of things.

All original is worth more in the long run, because they become more and more scarce. Sounds like it could be worth some where between 1000 and 8000 dollars depending on location and many conditional factors. It is tough to say without pictures, etc. Doesn't sound like it has any smoking guns that would prevent buying it. Just about everything can be fixed, but rusted out Cab is the biggest issue to watch for IMHO.
Don't expect to buy it, own it for 2 years and make a bunch of money. They don't appreciate that much, very slowly and it depends a lot on the economy. We buy these old trucks cause we like them and lots on here use them as trucks today.
Good luck.

Not expecting to make big bucks. Just think it is a interesting truck. Deep down I would love to change the engine out to feel more power. But if is more rare to drive it orginal I would do that. Most around that age around here are pretty much used up. I know I have to make that decision, just wanting more information before I go past the point of no return. It will be a project for me and my son in law. Either way I will have a lot of future questions.
thanks

EC it sounds like a great truck! Heres my two cents, keep it original drive the hell out of it and then if you just have to have the bigger engine or some other major mod. Sell it and buy one that has all ready been modified. These trucks are not the most popular so you can pick up a modified one easy enough. It would be a shame imo to move it to the dark side and then possibly lose interest in it. I have owned mine for over 40 years and now looking back I wish it was still original. Don't get me wrong I enjoy the hell out of it. Just sayin if I had my druthers.

Well I am a proud owner of a 1960 F100 truck. It has not been driven since 98, speedometer has a little over 29 thousand miles. It has a lot of issues, but they all look fixable, just a lot of them. It did not start but did turn over and sounded solid. After looking at it I think I will get it running then remove the bed, hood and anything else then start cleaning to the metal and put down a good primer. Cab is in good shape all glass is in tack except the dirver window which is cracked. I will take pictures before during and hope to still be alive to take the final picture. I will need a lot of help and advice from those of you here. I think my first step is a manuel for everything. I will post pictures when I figure out how. Just have not read that part yet. Any suggestions on what manuels and where to find them so I can get started. It has a holly 1904 one barrel that needs overhauling at least. I will stop now to surf the web and this site.
