Measure or have measured the ID and OD so you know for sure what we're working with .. read here http://www.jegs.com/InstallationInst...0/350-7895.pdf

I tapped gear on with rubber malet(didn't want to) and got it to sit bottomed out on camshaft. I removed gear also by tapping on it,very tight fit. I might take a little emery cloth to the alignment pin for a little easier fitment. I'm so happy it fits without further dilemmas.

With hydraulic lifters I don't think that this applies or at least I don't know how you would measure it .. I'll have to get back to you on that ..

This is the problem that you run into if you don't get the whole kit when using hydraulic lifters ..

http://caddy500.com/index.php?topic=1267.0;wap2

I would pull a spring, measure the installed hiegth and then put the spring in a vice and measure clearance at max lift. I would not trust the method you are using, as the lifter could be bleeding off a bit, showing more clearance that you will actually have.

If you don't know what the spring are, I would also have one tested to see what the open and closed pressure is. No sence in running more that you need imo. You have a few options for installed hiegth by using different keepers.
Also give this a read page 8 http://www.crower.com/media/pdf/cam_book.pdf

I'm not really sure what he got banned for but I couldn't have lost him at a worse time in my cam upgrade along with carb. & intake. Hopefully the mods will give him another chance to be part of this great forum.

I made a little progress today in getting motor back together.
Cam is in , straight up timing set installed and pushrods back in heads. A friend of mine is coming over with a really good torque wrench to help with getting it torqued to the right .lbs.. More to come tomorrow.
