I want to aquire one of the above for a tow rig (tow my Bronc). I keep hearing that the autos are crap and you have to dump 2-3k into them just for towing (TQ converter, etc...). WHY!? Would a manual be better?
What is the average price of a F-250/350 4x4 no options?
Towing a Bronco wouldn't require a 350 over a 250, but if they were the same price I'd buy the 350. There isn't much difference, just "legal" stickers.
Average prices for used Superduties 1999-2003 can range from 14K-25K. Motor type is a big issue. If you're towing that Bronco, a V10 or PSD would be the choice. If you're towing a lot, the PSD is great for that. If only an occaisional tow, the V10 should be found for less money on the open market.
The auto debate goes on and on. Sure some of them grenade at a young age, and others last forever. Of this you can be sure though...you WILL replace that clutch at some point, but the auto may last 200k or 20K
