2-3 shift, E4OD

Newbie here, Just picked up a 99 F-550 and the 2-3 shift is pretty weak.Since there seems to be quite a few knowledgeable people in this forum I thought I would pose my question here first.
My truck has the E4OD/4R100 Transmission. Is there an external band adjustment on this tranny? If so, what is the torque value for the adjustment? Also how do you tell the difference between the two. Are there any differences or was it just a name change.
I will be towing pretty heavy with this truck and do not want to smoke the tranny before I get started good.
Thanks, Jim

Fluid Circulation Diagram and Draining of Torque Converter

Does anybody have a diagram or explanation of the route the transmission fluid makes through the E40D transmission - something similar to what might be found in a training manual?

I've read that some models of the E40D have a drain plug on the Torque Converter, and that some don't. I have a 1993 F-250 7.3L Diesel, with a Banks Turbocharger installed. I am attaching a couple of photos. The first shows a label describing the particular model of my E40D. The second photo shows a cover on the bottom of the bell housing. I am wondering if I will find a drain plug on my 1993 Torque Converter after the cover is removed. Does anybody know? Removing the cover looks a little complex since it seems that part of the exhaust needs to be removed first.

Thanks in advance,

John Olson

ps - I recently joined this site. Initially I was not able to figure out how to attach the photos I mentioned above. I've since made an album with the photos. I believe you can see the album by clicking on my name above, then click the dropdown "View Public Profile", and the album will be on the right side of the profile. If anyone can tell me how to add a photo to a reply, that would be appreciated!

This is for John Olson
I assume you want to change out the fluid in the torque converter. Mark Kovalsky has a very good method of doing so. The instructions are in the Articles section of this site. Just type "E4OD" in the search box, and you'll see it listed.
