Something isn't adding up right here.

Ok so we have a 2002 F250 4x4 V10 crew cab automatic transmission and something isn't adding up right here. The truck is a one owner truck and the last owner I met up with and is telling me things about this truck that isn't adding up right. First he tells me that our truck is a 3 valve how can it be that the 3 valve didn't come out till 2005. Then he tells me it has the E40D transmission impossible wasn't made then we have the 4R100 transmission. And a few months ago he told me that the truck is a 4.10 gear ratio. This seems wierd. Can you guys tell me what the trucks gear ratio is if I give you the tag code? If so here it is:

3 V 425 B is the top line for the tag on the diff cover

then thier is L731052D26 for the bottom line.

Thanks for any help guys.

It's apparent he has no idea what he's talking about. The 3v V10 did not come out untill 2005. The 3v 5.4 was put in the f150 in 2004 and 2005 for the Super Duty.

Take a look at the axle code on your door post sticker where all you weight ratings are posted. Let us know what the code is.

Will do as soon as I do it again I figured maybe you could tell by the tag.

Ford did tell me before this truck was ordered with alot of options I sure hope it is 4.10 if it isn't that is ok either way. It is just good to know either way.

The code is for 3.73 gears so that's what it came from the factory with, but the PO could have changed them. Jack up the back of the truck and count the revolutions of the driveshaft per revolution of the tires. Considering he didn't get anything else right, the chances are he got that wrong as well.

Also, for what it's worth I was jazzed when I got my truck w/ the limited slip too, that lasted until the first time I needed it. It's VERY limited. Pretty sad considering the factory LS still works flawlessly in my old F150 after 17yrs and almost 200,000 miles.

Ya I doubt he is right too I still got to say he is one heck of a painter though but painting a truck and mechanically working on a truck is a big diffrence.
