2013 Ford Escape - New Owners
#2
2.0 AWD Titanium with tow package, sunroof, BLIS, leather seats. MFT with nav. Got just over 900 miles, was showing 26 MPG on the computer when I brought it to the dealership last Friday for a couple of problems. No sound from the parking sensors both front and rear, dash lights will not dim, and no visual indication of power to the rears wheels while on the "info" screen at any time in the above 900 miles. The dealership still has it and doesn't know whats wrong other than to say it's an electrical issue. They got a call in to the Ford Hotline, but are waiting for a response, meanwhile the technician works Tuesday thru Saturday and they don't want to complicate things by having another tech work on it so now I'm waiting to hear something on Tuesday. Oh well, at least I"m having "fun" with their Mazda 3 service loaner, don't think I'd want to be the person that buys that car.

If there is a rear wheel torque dash indicator this is something that wasn't on earlier models. Does your owner's manual state that there is a dash indicator?
Yep, from the manual:
A graphic will be displayed in the information display to advise you of the power distribution between the front and rear wheels. The more the area is filled the more power is being distributed to that wheel.
I'd liked to have somebody explain how the 4WD used by Ford directs power to a single wheel. As far as I know, it's only between back to front. Are they refering to traction control here?

Update
I just now clicked 1,300 miles on my FWD Titanium 2.0. The mileage has improved by 2 mpg in my daily trip to and from the office (24 mpg). I can say I am happy to report no issues with the vehicle at all. I am still stumbling through voice commands with MFT but with the tutorial I am shortening the learning curve.
The weather forecast and map with realtime storm data has been spot on with recent storms. One of he small things I noticed that I was really impressed with was the map data and routing. On previous cars the system would say make a U turn if possible. The system uses a route that takes you directly there knowing were the U Turn prohibited areas are. It is a small thing but cuts down on frustration and longer trips

2013 Escape FWD SE 2.0L purchased 10/15/2012, so far has 55 miles, 15.1 MPG.
I live on the top of a very steep hill, takes more gas to climb up it, than it takes to coast down it.
Previous: 2011 F150 5.0L Stupor Crew: 14.8 overall MPG within 7115 miles. The Escape will get better MPG than that!
Gallon of unleaded gas here in LA LA Land is currently $4.63 a gallon, I kid you not.

I have the 2.0 EB with FWD. Yes agreed, it probably is getting better mpg than the previous gen V6 at the same speeds. I felt absolutely no wind push or pull from passing the big rigs which is a big plus.

My wife has a 2.0 FWD Titanium. She only drives it in the city, usually with heavy traffic. (Chicago) it's at 19 MPG. Her previous 09 Fusion AWD 3.5 averaged 15.7 in the same conditions. When it was new the front & rear sensors were on overload, beeping all the time. That fixed itself, and she's had no other issues with it. It now has 3,700 miles.

Just came back from spending a couple weeks at my sister's. She has a 1.6 Eco AWD SEL and, although the power is close to her old Escape V-6 AWD, the mileage leaves a lot to be desired. For the entire 3,500 miles on the clock, her dash display shows 22.9 (and my experience has been that these displays seem to register one or two mpg high). On a road trip we reset the Trip 2 mileage display, and the best it could muster was 25mpg @ 65mph on flat terrain with three people, no AC, running 89 octane. Overall it is only getting 1 mpg better than our MKX 3.7 V-6 FWD gets on 87 octane. I was very disappointed with the mileage. Hopefully it will improve over time.
