That makes two of us brother that would rather do a combat tour again. Where were you? Also I used to program as well, not getting paid by Microsoft, but with C#, SQL, making websites and a couple of programs for people. One veteran to another

I noticed you put the word 'lawn' in that...

Remember the grass is always greener over the septic tank.

Seeing as I mowed whatever lawn grass grows in AK (much different than Florida St. Augustine) and it was really thick and tall over the septic tank here too...

and the grass is only greener on the other side of the fence because the neighbour is willing to spend money to look after his lawn. This means that greener=more expensive. Applies to many subjects (but not USB ports or cell phones)

Interesting. In the world of job searches, I have found that the grass appears greener on the other side of the fence usually because there is more BS over there to fertilize it!

I've not discovered a good way to determine the level of BS over the other side until it's too late and I'm already on the other side of the fence.

On a related note to prior posts that have been made, I will say that I found software development to be quite lucrative up here although I was a contractor rather than a salaried employee. Less work and more money that home building which was the follow-on career.

Ha-ha, I just got 2 of them yesterday! Our safety incentive program uses wooden nickels with the company logo on them. Each employee gets one per month if they have no safety violations plus one for attending voluntary company meetings or you can get one for making a good suggestion, etc. I received 2 for having the most complete nomination form for employee of the year.

Each nickel is worth $10 and can be used towards the purchase of a variety of items in a display case such as company logo items (hats, T-shirts, sweatshirts, etc), Caterpillar or Mack items, sunglasses, mugs, gift cards and so on. They will even order anything you want from Amazon as long as you have enough nickels to cover the cost. The best part is for every 12.5 (used to be 25 before they doubled the value of the nickels) nickels, you can cash them in for a day off. It blows my mind that the majority of our employees still surrender them at cash value when probably 70% of our work force is above the $15.62/hr threshold of the cash value. They only have a cash value of $10/ea and any time a guy comes in looking to borrow some money, I offer to buy his tokens at $15/ea. Nobody can understand why I am so stupid. They just don't seem to understand their value to me since I use them for a day off. I could pay $20 for them and still make a nice return on my investment!

So for me, accepting wooden nickels is a fantastic thing!

Good morning guys! I have grass that gross...a lot. We had some tremendous storms last night. I lost a couple of trees. One is tucked up against the house. It does not appear to have damaged the house, but it's as close as you'd want it. That will be a project to clean up.

Have a great day guys!

Well, I have finished up on this rig, should fly in tomorrow and spend the night in my bed, return to a different rig on Thursday........

Hope everyone has a great day, be safe in whatever you are up to!

Matt I served in Bosnia and Kosovo among others.

Morning all,

I try to keep my lawn looking like a golf course. When my kids are outside playing on it, laughing, I know it was worth it. I have some trees sucking the life out of it though, and it's a combat situation of its own.

Andre, glad everyone is ok.
