Sort of funny. In the underseat picture I can see where I put my arm under there to retrieve what turned out to be a 1972 dime just behind the tunnel hump. I was the one who "disturbed" the dust and crud shortly after bringing it home. I felt 10 cents richer.

It spent most of its life in Eastern Washington in a town called Wenatchee. It's very arrid in that part of the state. Dry as a bone in the summer. The Cascade mountains run North-South and break the state between an East and a West "half". The West side where Seattle is receives a LOT of rain. The Eastern portion, especially just to the East of the Cascades, is in a rain shadow. Low humidity, little rain, dry snow. It's a great place for finding fairly rust-free examples.

 

I was able to get some NOS filler neck grommets, but I think they were hanging on a wire or cord. It took some of the rubber off the inner portion. I don't think it will matter much once installed. At least they are still flexible.



The throttle return spring bracket looks OK underneath



but the plating on the top side has seen better days. Sending it out to get it re-plated would cost more than $5-$6.



Solution? NOS once again.





Here's a picture of the seatback with the Ford logo.

C1TZ-9080-A (replaced C1TB-9080-A) .. In Cab Fuel Filler Tube Grommet / Obsolete ~ 56 available NOS / Reproduced by Carpenter @ $10.00 each.

Applications: 1961/66 F100/850 / 1963/66 N500/750 / 1967/69 F800/1000.

Soak NOS in hot water for about 5 minutes before installing.

 

NOS ones are only $5. The inner diameter is somewhat smaller than the metal filler neck itself, so I think once installed it'll look right.

Inner hose doesn't look too bad, but while I'm in the business I'll also replace it.

NOS you bought were only 5 bucks. But obsolete parts prices can vary wildly from one source to another.

So will all the 25 FoMoCo Dealers that have 56 available NOS ask the same price? Don't bet on it.

More cleanup and painting today. Heater hose brackets from the passenger inner fender.

I had mentioned in another post of the upper radiator hose from CarQuest being incorrect and bulging at the clamps. Got the correct NOS ones and the bonus is the labels on each of them say 1966!!











I wrote a bot that uses an Excel spreadsheet of part numbers that I maintain to search the web and when it finds a match it uses a single purpose e-mail address to send a price request. Their response goes to the same e-mail address which parses their reply for prices and updates the spreadsheet so I can see who has what and for how much. The ultimate in comparison shopping...

 

I jump around quite a bit. Taillights and front turn signal bits were up again.

Gaskets were looking a bit worn in back. Figured fronts probably aren't much better. Front lens needed a freshening, too. Warped from the sun bake.

I haven't actually taken the fronts apart yet. Just gearing up.









Front lenses have SAE-PI-65 TK on one end and FoMoCo logo on the other end, just like the ones on my truck. Screws came with these, too, which is always nice.

 

Remember, too, it all depends on your particular application. For example, many people couldn't give a **** about the following NOS items.

A few more items I've gathered for the project.

Custom Cab emblems



All the boxes and envelopes seem to have 1966 dates on much of it.





I opened one envelope to see what the clips look like.



Door handles. Sadly these came without hardware.







Vent window handles



I had to check out the hardware for these, too. More 1966 dates.






The '66 4x4 used the older style brake and clutch pads. Same as my Grandfather's old 1957 Ford 2wd if I recall.

I couldn't bring myself to open these yet.





And some nice wiper blade arms. They have the Trico logo on them, too.
