Code reader
Where is a good place to get the codes read. Not looking to spend all the money on the AE right now, and just kind of curious what codes I have if any. Will the dealerships do it, or other shops?

What engine/model/year? O'Reilys normally keeps a fairly high-end OBDII/CAN code reader behind the counter that works for most things, either they read them for you, or they ask for an ID and let you go mess with it. A dealer will probably charge you .5-1hr of shop time to read them.

They store codes if a code has been set. If you haven't had a CEL, there may not be any codes, or you may just have a bunch of phantom codes.
If you're not in a hurry, I can read the codes next time I'm in Glen Rose or we could meet up in Cleburne one day and I'll check them.

Sorry dumb question. I always just call it the check engine light, never put 2 and 2 together. Either the blonde in me is coming out, or im just to tired. Well I may have bought a decent truck then if that hasnt popped on, well decent besides the suspension.

for our powerstrokes, u can still get codes and not have a CEL on at all. it's wats stored in the memory. we have a bunch of computers on our powerstrokes, so it may not be in this computer, might be in the other, but a code reader will pick it up. not all though.

It seems to be running good, or should I say good to what I know. This is the first Ford I have owned. The only thing im thinking is I may need to do a tranny flush because after the bigger blocks in the rear, it seems to downshift more. But I am in a hilly area, so my mind may just be making me think that since I just got done doing something to it.
