HOW CAN YOU TELL IF YOUR HPOP IS BAD
#16
Benny yes that is the groove . And yes it does look machined not wore . The discharge tube did not look like it did this . I have owned it sense new it was in for the EP recall and they told me they put a lot of parts in it new turbo and ( other stuff ) that was at 64000 . When they flashed it things went bad and they had it for a week. So who knows what was put in it .

Do you have a part number list with all the parts changed?

Do you see any rub through marks on the discharge tube? If not, I think you'll do fine with the cover you have. If you do see rub through or witness marks, replace the cover along with the discharge tube.

Yeah Dave, I was looking at that picture of yours, with great interest. It does actually look like it was there since new. But as you can see from the pics I posted in post #12, you can clearly see what was done to update it. But like I said, if you don't see any damage to the discharge tube, I say you're good to go, to re-use that cover.
And yes, you are correct Benny. That IS exactly what changed. If you still have the original cover on yours, it would be beneficial to have yours changed up. Remember, a new cover will come with a new IPR valve installed in it. Just make sure you open up the package first, when you receive it. I have had a couple that the connector on the IPR was damaged while in transit. This is as a result of poor packaging. BTW, the part number for the cover is 3C3Z-9G805-AA if you're wondering.
Gawd, I should be getting a commission from FoMoCo, every time I post a part number. It seems like every time I do, members buy these parts in droves.

Ok this is where I'am at i finally made up a test thinky to air test my HPOP system from discharge tube to injectors , the pump is out . Ok put air on it and nothing at first ( no leaks ) but after 3-4 mins started hearing air . It is coming from the drivers side oil rail or injectors , i'am thinking center back . ?? is how do i pin point it from here ?

Just S's and G's, uncouple try to uncouple the braided line from the standpipe. Try turning the standpipe by hand or an 18mm open end wrench if you can get it on the hex. If it spins, REPLACE IT. If not, pull all those 5/16" bolts off the rail and have a close look at the top of the injector you speak of (I believe cylinder #6 by what you describe). Did it blow its top? How about the circlip?
