I screenshot this from a recent school board update after a local snow/ice event. I think it is cool that these old trucks are still working hard after so many years.

Anyone here ever replaced the shifter stick on their ZF5? Found a guy that makes a nesr exact replacement with a thread end for a ****. Can't decide on a **** though.

I initially went looking and found his site when wanting to replace the transfer **** that keeps pulling off. He make levers for them too.

Here's the link, knew it was dirtbags and diesels or something like that lol

shifter lever is connected to the trans shift stalk with two bolts.
undo the boot, and the two bolts are rite there.

Yeah I understand that. I wasn't sure if anyone's actually replaced theirs to use a threaded shift ****. I know it's been talked about before since our trucks shafts/stalks are splined. I initially found this site while looking to see if anyone had threaded the splined shaft itself. The good ole transfer case **** just pips off on mine and I wanted something with a better engagement then the splines. Figure if I get one, I might as well switch out both sticks. Just can't decide on what ***** to actually use.

i would never pay $245 for a piece of metal i could make myself for around $40.
my 86 **** constantly popped off, so i took a threaded coupler and reamed it to fit over the spline. put two set screws in it to hold it to the shifter, and than put a shift **** off one of my macks on the end.
the 88 when it had the 5 speed snapped the lever at the bolts. so i made one out of bar stock similar to the ones in that link.

I am a bit off put by the price. I imagine it's because he's buying a 2"( or whatever the thickness by the boot is) billet shaft and milling it down to mimic the stock shifter. Similar reason to why RRs valve covers are so expensive.

He does offer a thinner shaft for about half the price.

I thought about threading the end myself or putting an adapter on. I do like a sinple bolt on solution though. Most of my other "simple projects" seem to gonoff the rails somehow.

If it don't go off rail way out into left field, it isn't a simple project! 🤣

I made some adapters to run a 1/2-20 thread **** on stock lever. Pay freight and beta test one for me.
