Went back to a Flo-Jet...what a goof. I over think everything. I just took a couple of elevations where the trailer is compared to my septic tank holding tank. It is roughly 100' feet away from the trailer by there is 16" of drop from the grade where the trailer discharge would be and the entrance to the tank (this is in addition to the drop from the trailer to the connection). I think it is a little far with 5/8 garden hose. So I think I may trench in a 1" water line and make a permanent sewer connection point. That way we can just hook up at the trailer and flip a switch. No messy connections while at home anyway. w00t!

 

Looks GREAT! What a neat idea to setup your 5ver for a guest if needed.

Just make sure...the guest doesn't turn out to be you! Wife can do it... ha-ha....just kidding.

That's good thinking. The FloJet is rated at 50 feet max.

 

I rented a bobcat and made a nice gravel campsite at home too, surrounded the gravel with railroad ties. I have electric hookup but no cable or sewer. I just let the grey water drain to the woods, don't dump black at home.

I just had to move dirt, no trees.

 

The FloJet has no problem with 100'+ in larger lines. I used mine for 4 years with 100' of 3/4" hose coupled to 50' of 5/8" hose with no problems at all. Last year I buried about 75' of 1" polyethylene piping hooked directly to my septic tank and created a permanent hookup on the side of my garage where the trailer sits. Now I only need 5 feet of 3/4" hose to make the connection.

FloJet rates the pump at short distances because people have a tendencie to not only pump 50 feet out, but 20 feet up at the same time. With a negative elevation change or downhill slope, there isn't much head pressure on the pump especially with a 1" line. After the first 10 feet or so it will virtually become a gravity line.

 

That's a great setup. What do you do to discourage mice and varmints from climbing up underneath the trailer?

We have a lot of wildlife around us. Squirrels are our "rats". They are EVERYWHERE. I'm not a "fan". Deer, turkey, groundhogs, racoons, fox and the occasional wolf are common. They don't care much if it is your property or not. They decide what they are going to mess with and what will remain untouched. The entire bottom of the trailer is sealed and insulated and I'm hoping that will take care of most of the issues. We have two fantastic mousers (outdoor cats) that seem to kill anything 10 pounds and under in the yard. They take out squirrels, birds and mice like nothing.

If it gets to be a problem, I guess we will skirt the trailer, but I'd rather not. We shall see. They don't bother anything around the yard now and the neighbor feeds them plenty so they don't look in my yard for food (thankfully). I'm actually hoping for the best.

 

I got a call today from the dealership and they said the 5th wheel was all ready and I could pick it up early. We bought a left over 2011 for a sweet deal. The floor had a defect in the kitchen and they elected to remove both rear sliders to completely replace the floor in the kitchen area. It turned out perfectly, but it took them a couple of weeks to get it all finished. This was covered under warranty (of course). We raced down there and grabbed it. Just have pics from the dealership for now. It is just parked in the driveway at the moment. We'll back her in tomorrow when it's light out and we have time to get it all set-up. I'll post more about the pull home in powerstroke's thread...
