My next mod

Finally got my Dana 60 to stick under my f250. It's got matching gears, leaf springs, steering linkages, Trac bars & bracket. The bad is the auto hubs, not sure if they work.

Great find! Hope that set ya back too much cash. You can convert the hubs to manual locking. Much better anyway.

D50 and D60 both use the same hubs, if you have manuals on the truck now you can swap them to the new axle.

I wish I had manual hubs, but it sure is nice to just grab that lever and have 4x4 on demand.

Good luck on the swap!

I agree that you should swap your manual hubs to the D60, but don't just throw the autos away. Believe it or not some people think they are the cats jammies. I sold a few on eBay and I bet you could recover one of your benjamins.

well i got the d60 install today and i have to say i am pleased. the ride on my old ttb suspension was so beat up it rode horrible but now she is riding smoother than ever. its like night and day differece. best mod so far. now i just need to change my rear shocks and maybe treat her to new bushings in the rear to smoothen out the ride in the back.

Ug. Until that day you grab it and it's three-wheel drive....then two....

Ya know, I think I might be the only person on this forum who actually likes auto hubs. mine work perfectly. and I dont have to get out and get muddy to lock mine in. I've had them apart acouple times to re pack bearings and once to replace rotors and the guts looked perfect. i would consider repairing them when and if they ever do break.

Ken, I had an f150 with auto hubs once before and they worked good. I also liked being able to just kick it in 4wd without having to get out of the truck to lock the hubs. I'll be trying them out tomorrow see if they work right, if they do they will stay on there and I'll keep the manual hubs as spares. About how much does it cost to rebuild or replace the auto hubs?

What is the benefit of the f350 front drive shaft over the f250one? I ask cuz I can get mine cut to the length needed for 50 bucks and I think the 350 drive shaft will probably cost a lil more. I'll take the 350 drive shaft even if it cost a lil more if its worth the upgrade. It's want to know the benefits.

The issue with the double cardan driveshaft is the yoke on the transfer case needs to be replaced. There is a yoke available but is is made in Taiwan. Last I checked anyway. Otherwise they a very hard to come by. Definitely worth the effort IMHO.

I dont know cause I have never had to repair mine.
just take care of them I guess. as long as parts are available and not too much more than the cost of a set of warn premiums I'll keep mine.
