I need help
First I wanna say hello because im brand new to this forum. Im going to get right to the point im looking at a 1996 f150 XL 8ft bed from the picture looks to be an 8lug with a 5spd 4.9l I6. The motor needs to be timed. The truck has 92,xxx on it. It looks like a nice truck. The Guy wants 1500. Im just wondering if the 4.9 is a powerful motor, because I live on top of a mountain and I don't want a dog for a truck. Also I want to know if these are good trucks to maybe put a small plow on to do like maybe 1-10 drive ways. Lastly are they good reliability wise and MPG? Thanks for all your help happy new year.

Good dealios on both trucks! (Without seeing the body and interior condition)
I'd go with the 95 4.9. Much better gas mileage. 5 speed easier to repair than AT. (Plus I'm bias towards manual.) The 95 should use the newer refrigerant on the AC which will save money down the road (No pun intended!)
Also, how much was the 93 driven with this overheating condition? Some damage could've been done, and you don't want to change warped heads or replace head gaskets!
A lot also depends on where you live and what you are going to use the truck for?
The 95 4.9 will be cheaper and easier to repair (Assuming you won't be doing a lot of towing and hauling)
What kind of driving will you be doing? i.e. Highway? Stop and go around town?
Heck! Where do you live? I might be interested in buying one of these trucks at this price and with this mileage! What do they look like!

I live in CT. And I mostly do a combination of both. As for towing probably nothing major nothing more then 2 dirt bikes or 2 lawn tractors in the bed or on a trailer. The trucks are both 5spds just saying. And there on Craigslist here's the ads. Just out if curiosity what's the MPG on the f350?
Craigslist: 1996 F150 92,xxx miles 4 wheel drive - $1500 1996 F150 92,xxx miles 4 wheel drive
Craigslist: 1993 ford f350 - $700 1993 ford f350

Please do us all a favor and don't change your posts so much that when reading through the thread that it ceases to make sense. I reread your first post 3 times thinking I had missed something when in all reality I didn't: You removed pertinent information that was needed to understand what you were talking about.
Thank you for keeping this in mind and again, welcome to FTE!

Yeah I kinda figured that was gonna confuse alot of people sorry again. And thanks im glad to be apart. Im still curious about the f350 though. Because in reality I have enough to buy both haha I just don't want both. And if I we're to plow id most likely put a heavier duty suspension and upgrade the trans and rear end alittle to handle lite plowing like a couple drive ways here and there.

I think your making the right choice. It looks like this truck has a lot of new parts including "completely rebuilt disturber, new front breaks)
I would double check this guys work if his spelling is this much off!
The diesel looks like it's been put through the paces. I don't like the way the driver's side door matches with the front quarter panel. Could just be the picture though. Also, front bumper doesn't look right.
One thing I can't stand is when people don't put up interior pictures with their ads!

Yeah, I really do like the f150 and doesn't it look like it has 8lugs? The f350 is nice but im 17 attend tech school for auto and have work 26miles away I can't afford it. Although like I feel like stupid for letting a f350 5spd with 110k for 700 go ha-ha. But the truck looks pretty beat.

Since you are in school: If it were me; I'd just get the 96 and take care of school.
Unless: Your tech school is an automotive school.
Take it from someone who has been there and has 3 kids younger and older than you: Just concentrate on getting out of school! Don't add complications, distractions or drama! (Sorry)
What kind of tech. school are you in?
