The folks that know about this kind of thing don't usually frequent the "New Member Introductions" forum. You might might want to post in the "1987 - 1996 F150 & Larger F-Series Trucks" forum to get some answers flowing.

Welcome aboard!

I believe that number you posted is an earlier version of your transmission. It's an AOD which is mechanical/hydraulic. It will not work for you unless you make a bunch of modifications to make it physically fit.

The 4R70W is electronic/hydraulic operated. The computer will trigger a Check Engine Light when it does not see the 4R70W electrically connected. What is wrong with your current transmission? Since it is 100% electronic controlled any faulty engine sensor can trigger limp mode operation.

Just rebuild the 4R70, they can be made very durable with modern upgrade kits. Making the AOD swap like previously mentioned would be migraine inducing and hurt your wallet.

My 95 doesn't have the aod. It's the 4r70w with a 5.0 2wd

Sorry, I misread one of the posts, thought it was said that it was not a 4r70. Oops!

The 4r70 is good, unless you want to swap it for a manual transmission I don't know that it's worth the headache to swap to another model of automatic?
