Unhappy ABS light/sensor

My ABS and brake warning lights are stuck on. The shoes are in good shape and I haven't had any braking problems. I replaced the sensor atop the rear axle housing, but lights are still on. I went to Auto Zone to see if they could read the code, but they said their reader could only read engine codes. The rubber grommet is intact on the parking brake pedal (others have said that this is often the problem). Maybe I solved the problem and may need the codes cleared? I tried disconnecting the battery for 10-15 minutes. Any help would be appreciated.

Remove your positive and negative battery cables from the battery and tape them together for 10 minutes using electrical tape. It's the best way to clear codes. If the light comes back on pay attention to what you were doing, driving conditions, road conditions, etc. Then report back here and FTE will help you pinpoint the problem. Drive with the radio off to listen for unusual noises.

I tried taping the battery cables together to clear the codes, but it didn't work. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Sounds like it's time to take it in and get it scanned. If there are no "hard" faults the light can be turned off by clearing the codes with the scanner.
