1983 5.8 liter F350 wiring help
This truck has been used as a ranch truck without being registered for the highway for at least 15 years. It ran fine until five years ago, then a minor problem laid it up, coons slept under the hood, and too many cooks spoiled the brew with the wiring.
The wiring is frayed and needs replacing. I'm assumig that can be done just with some splicing and electrical tape
But the wires to the coil from the electronic ignition and from the coil to the condensor and distributor are lost in history. I've got no idea what wires go where and I've not been able to find a wiring diagram. If I had one I'm not certain I'd be able to make sense of it.
If anyone has an F350 of this vintage and this engine and can give me some direction on how to get this truck back running I'll be grateful. My plan is to license it for the highway and give it a new lease on life if I can get past the wiring issues.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Welcome to FTE!
That picture makes the truck look in very rough shape. I doubt it's as rough as it looks, so I wish you luck on your project.
Easiest thing to do in my opinion is looking for the same wiring harness in a junkyard truck. A lot of people will pull the parts they need and leave the wiring laying there unmolested.
I'd also recommend going over the truck with a good eye and seeing what else you might need to pull from the JY before actually making the trip. Saves time and gas, and we all know how much the liquid gold is...

Thanks a bunch for the wiring diagram and sound advice. Yeah, the old monster's a bit rough. But I'm 69 years old and need a vehicle I can put into service as economically as possible. The man who owns this place told me I can have it if I can get it running, so it's my best prospect for getting to town to buy groceries and other necessaries.
I live close to the bone and don't have a lot of margin for error. If the wiring diagram you provided will allow me to get fire to the plugs I'll be able to see, at least, what else might be wrong.
There's only one other thing I'm certain is wokkyjawed.
There's a solonoid on the line between the carb and the gas pedal that has the gas pedal jammed. I don't have a clue why it's there, but my initial thought is I might be able to bypass it [looks to be a booger to get wrench on to remove], or failing that, find one in a junk yard or somewhere cheap.
The thing doesn't show any outward sign of why it's jammed and there's no evidence Ford figured on it being taken apart to be repaired.
I can't tell you how much I appreciate the help you provided. With a minimum of luck I'm thinking I can get that critter on the road.
Gracias, J
