Good evening guys.
As usual, I show up and everyone else leaves.
Good night Cory and Jay.
So, I was out messing with the sled tonight, got everything put back together, mixed up 5 gallons of gas and poured it in. Pulled it over and over and over and over again. WTH??? No gas in the filter....... DUH, turn the fuel valve ON.
OK, pulled and pulled and pulled some more. NOTHING. WTH????? Pull plugs, check spark (I don't have one of those fancy tools like Dave has) Got spark. Pour a little gas down each hole, put plugs in and pull and pull and pull some more. NO FIRE.....WTF?!?!?!?!?
OK then, plan C, or is it D. Holding throttle part way open, pull over S.......L........O.......W....... and it fires right up.
Hmmmmmmmmmm, OK whatever. Blip the throttle a few times, sounds GOOODDDDD, very snappy. Let it go back to idle, idles a couple seconds and dies. Ummmmm, OK. Try this again, couple short pulls on the rope, throttle about half open then a quick pull and it is running again. So it goes for about 5 minutes, each time I let it idle it will die after a couple seconds. Look at the filter and there is no fuel in it. Now, mind you, if I blip the throttle every couple seconds it will stay running indefinitely. But if I let it idle it will die after a couple seconds.
So, maybe I should have rebuilt the fuel pump while it was out or maybe I have a major vacuum leak (AKA bad crank seal) not allowing it to pump enough fuel at idle. You can see fuel getting sucked into the filter when you blip the throttle, although it isn't much.
Mayhaps I should have done the crank seals too, but didn't want to get that involved in it, it ran great before the rebuild and didn't show any signs of a bad seal(like a lean cylinder). SIGHHHHHHHHHHH...................

I'm debating whether it'll be easier to cut the car up in my garage, or haul it it as is for scrap. I'm still pulling some random shiz off of it, but there isn't any suspension, it's mostly gutted so there's not much to catch on fire. I would need to find a plasma cutter tho... hmmm...
