Be very carefull with that DMF, make SURE it's in good shape. If it fails, you WILL end up with this:

I'd much rather the gear rollover noise than having to deal with that, mind you, it's why I picked up my "new" crew cab for $600. lol

I personally like my SMF. Most of you guys know I pull heavy equipment with my truck. It sure does make a difference having the SMF installed. I don't have any noise when I drive or shut down. BUUUUUT, I don't have any exhaust past the down tube either....LOL Hell you are putting it together, why go through this mess again? If you have the parts already, throw it in and be done with it. If not, still makes sense if you can afford to. I love working on my trucks too, just no more than I really have to.....LOL

Yes and no, I will be ordering it Monday, I want to see/feel the difference. Sticking the dmf in till it gets here. Does this sound like a big waste of time? Yes. But when you have a few extra hands helping it moves quick. Not worried about taking it back out. Getting the whole swap in was my main objective. All of the little stuff seems like more of a hassle then the tranny itself

Wow, well I've never seen a bellhousing come apart like that due to a DMF before. I've seen lots of them fail, but never cause that kind of problem. I think they are perfectly fine as long as you aren't running a rediculous amount of power through them or towing a lot!

Look threw this thread https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...-complete.html . Can't say that I like his choice of titles, but it has some good pics, of the DMF, and how to tell when they are done for.
