LEV 5.4 difference?

Does anybody know why the LEV (Low Emissions Vehicle) has 20 HP less than the regular 5.4?

Just curious, but where did you find this information? I have searched and cant find separate horsepower specs for the LEV's. Not saying your wrong, just wondered. If it is true, I also wonder what the differences are.

Believe it or not I have a brochure on 2001 F-Series trucks and in the listed specs it shows 240 horse for the LEV engine.

Well then. Guess they wanted to keep it a secret otherwise, cant find that info anywhere else. My guess is it is probably in the tune, but I wonder if there is any smog crap that is related to the lower ratings also.
