Decision's opinions on mix n match tires 9.00 x20

Ok, so the 53 C600 MH has 8.25x20 right now but they have significant cracking on them and not sure if they will pass safety inspection or not?

Even if they do pass I'm not so sure it looks great to have the truck in a parade with lots of people checking the truck out so figured it would be best to just have some better tires on it.

so I found 2 different sets of four traction treads. 1st set is "Hercules" slight wear. and second set is "Truck Mud and Snow" they are newer and less wear so I think they are slightly taller than the Hercules.

I was initially thinking I would run a mismatched set of 2 on the inside duals so the outside 4 tires showing on the truck would all match but now Im thinking maybe I should just run the 4 "Truck Snow and Mud" tires on the rear and then use 2 of the 4 Hercules on the front??

I think I read that if your rear duals are mismatched the shorter tire should be to the inside? (that would be the Hercules) which I like the look of better?

I realize I'm going to be sitting about 1" + taller and won't have the turning radius on my truck with these 9.00 20's as compared to the 8.25's but until I get lucky enough again to find some aggressive one's these will have to work.

any thing I should consider, be aware of or opinions on the configuration is appreciated and considered.

Thanks and Merry Christmas.

Here is the truck if any of you don't remember seeing it.

here are the Hercules (Date Code 2005 made in USA)

Hercules on left and Snow and Mud on Right.

here are the "Truck Mud and Snow" (Date code of 2006) made in USA

Josh, if the tires are different heights I think I'd run the Mud n Snow on the rear with 2 Hercules on the front. You'll see the fronts more than the rears.

If there's not that much difference, put the Hercs where they show and call it good.

I know you said all that, but I don't think the average person will notice the slight difference in tread pattern - they'll be gawking at the truck.

It's all good! Merry Christmas

Josh - agree, I'd keep the same tires together on the same axle, and would put the taller set on the back. Would look better, and help maybe a little with road speed. The tread pattern is close enough nobody will think anything of it. Stu

I have 9.00-20's all the way around on my 55 F-600 and they don't rub in the front!

Thanks Guys, Mud n Snow's on rear and Hercules on the front it shall be. now for the work to begin....
My 52 F6 had 900x20's on the front when I got it and they only had about 1/16th of an inch clearance on the fenders.

The 53 has lots of clearance on the fenders but figured at worst case the tires might slightly rub on frame? at extreme turning point?? Maybe, Hopefully they'll be just fine. I can't wait to get the registration complete and start driving this baby!

I didn't say they weren't "CLOSE" to the fenders in the front........!!

I did adjust the "stops" so they wouldn't rub the frame. It drove pretty good down the road before I pulled out the old 239!! I am building (side) engine mounts now so it'll be a while before I can drive the thing.

You'll LOVE it!! Just make sure you have tight kingpins (I had to have mine reamed 0.010" oversized) and your steering box is tight!

It'll drive GREAT!

Merry Christmas!

Rick
