yes, its true i spent 2 grand and bought a 94 toyota pickup. it gets 28mpg! and my superduty gets to stay at home while i go to work.
i figure, i'd take the 4 grand i saved over the powerstroke and buy a beater ride, and only use my big truck when needed.
so strokers can you beat that!!!!!!!

Well I think your intentionally baiting the forum here, but again I also think DCSpecial isn't quite getting it - BADFORD is talking about the mileage. Saying a Toyota is a viable work truck for hauling or towing items rated for 1-Tons would be crazy- PSD's are good at what they do - but if all your towing is your butt to a jobsite, the Toyota works well. Remember those 2WD Toyota P/U's from 20 years ago with 1TON emblazoned on the tailgates? had the 4 cylinder, the old body style, and 3 leaf springs in the back? now THOSE were a joke.
I'd prefer to leave the testesterone pumped "my truck is bigger than your truck" conversations to the Dodge crowd - or better yet to that silly Avalanche driver who's girlfriend the other day pointed to my fender emblems and mouthed V-10 to him.... it was funny watching him peel away from the light as I took my left....
People are funny - good luck with the Toyota - can't say I blame you for saving the 35K-40K dollar truck getting 10mpg from racking up unnecessary mileage.

Your not getting any support from me partner, If i was in the market for a small pickup id stick with a RANGER, The RANGER will outperform the TOY in all classes everyday of the week, And you get to stick with FORD........... i would push my truck to work before i drove a Toy, sorry

Oooof! you guys are TOUGH!
I'd assume he bought an SD because he occassionally needs something that size .... just doesn't need it everyday.
As for the Ranger comment, I have to disagree - had one - mine was a POS - your experiences may vary. Like Toyota or not, their rigs aren't bad for what they were designed to do.
Tony what the hell have you started here! LOL can you say flame bait?
OK time to wash my truck for the tenth time this week so it can get dirty again in tommorrows snow storm (yes snow - in April - 4-6 inches tommorrow night - V10, changing the enviroment one tank of fuel ata time)

well, first off. i bought the SD becuase i CAN!!! and my last 4 trucks were ford. second the ranger will by no means last as long as a toyota truck lets face it america couldn't build a 4 cyl engine if there life depended on it! everyone knows the toy's 22r engine will last forever. the reason i bought a beater was due to my 60 mile trip to work. my gas bill went from $50 to $15 a week. so the toy will pay for itself. and scott since you care so much about waht i drive ill lay it out for ya!!!

I love the comment "the only thing made in america in your truck is your ***".... wouldn't be so funny if there wasn't a shred of truth to it. Now excuse me while I go drive around in my girlfriends Honda Accord .... made by Americans in Marysville Ohio of course..... Ooooops! ha ha ha

I HAD A RANGER! i bought one new in 94 i put a 4 inch susp lift and 3 inch body lift with 33 bfg. and all the goodies.
but i bought this toyota from my dad with 163000 miles on it and it still runs like new, he bought it new, and has changed the oil every 3000 miles. i would never buy a ranger with 163k on it!
