Ford vs chebby discussion

ill admit im pretty sure a 305 could out pull my little 302 but hey im not expecting miricals nor the 302 to be a super engine...I expect it to do what it can dutifully and faithfully i would rather drive a newer model Ford truck even the bigger pudgy lookin things then to touch a chebby, and I say this from experience and having a newer model chebby (2007) blow up on me during a test drive, it was a turd and thats putting it nicely about it and I was starting to like the truck but untill it went boom under the hood and died a horrid death....oh well....I think it was a Silverado or sliverado....something like that...

And for blew it with the 10th+ gen. trucks...Although, as much as I lov my 87-96 models....There's a nice white standard cab/shortbed in town...Black wheels/windows....Really nice truck...
And for the record...Ford blew it with the 3.0/4.0's IMHPO....Jeez those turds either die prematurely, or never kill over...

As for the 3.0 (can't talk about the 4.0, never owned one) but the 3.slow was great for a DD, anything other than moving it from point A to point B, it sucked. The particular ranger I had with the 3.0, the first one went to 350,*** miles before it got a rod knock from hell, 2nd was a JY motor, it had around 110,*** when it imploded, and the last one before I sold it had around 40,*** on it. Then the tranny started slipping and I sold it.
The 305 is a destroked 350 made to please the EPA, yes they can be some mean motors, I have a friend that has a 93?ish chev with a mildly built 305 in it, its one bad machine, not going to lie, but if I was in a chevy with a 305, I would shut up and sit back until I could put a 350 in. You can make 2x the power with a 350 and get the same mpg's as the 305.

All I know about the 305 is that our El Camino went through two of them in quick sucsession before we put a crate 350 in place.
I have no respect for the 305. Though I will say the built 305's dad had in his Elky ran pretty good.. but the 350 makes tons more power for the same amount of fuel.

I agree....I've never owned a 97+ model....For a reason....Reason being, I'm just not ready to give up on my 92...lol
Sorry for the vagueness.....I meant to mean that the 10+ gen. truck just don't have the "It" that the pre-97's had.....Sorry...Just my honest opinion..

The body lines, and all the visual are a little "soft" for a truck, but everything else is stout on'em.
Its all good, just airing my opinion of the 10th gen.
On thing I Love over my 96 with this 00, I've spent more time in it driving than under it with a wrench.
