Need input on AC problem

2002 F350 7.3 Super D Lariat Dually
AC works great one extended idle (10 hr break) and at lower RPMs. but quits on heavy acceleration and speed over 60, blows but not cold (more like if just the fan were blowing). Only comes back on after turning AC off for a few min. Was told it was compressor, been doing this since last NOV wouldn't it have gone out by now? Freon? Don't think so, blows freezing when it's working. I'm thinking some kind of relay, expansion valve or something. This truck DOES NOT have the climate control (i.e specific temp setting). Any ideas?

See FAQs in HVAC section. Your system is essentially the same as the f150's.

Probably a slipping clutch.

Check your compressor clutch air gap. Quick and simple to do and will confirm or deny a common problem before you pull your hair out.
