Question Ignition/starting problem

Good numbers to all my fellow FTE's. Here we go.

I own a 1981 Big Bronco with the 351M engine. It is very simple which means no AC, PW's or PDL's. Get the picture?

A few weeks ago I was unable to start the motor. Well, actually it fires when the key is turned all the way forward to the start position, however when I release the key, the motor shuts down.
If I could keep the key forward, the motor would continue to run, however that is not possible for obvious reasons.

Any helpful hints or websites I can visit pertaining to this problem is greatly appreciated.

Ignition/starting problem

I'd say it needs a *Rod adjustment* from the key tumbler to the ignition switch which is down on the side of the column.

It might even need replacing depending on how much wear there is.

Also do a search with the search button near the top of the page. Look for "actuator". You could have a broken ignition switch actuator. It is the piece that connects the lock cylinder and key to the ignition switch which is mounted down lower on the column.
