Braded flex line on top of head??

I am taking my heads off and never been into the 6.0 I have valve covers off and I see a cast iron pipe (housing) running the length of the head and a steel braded hose. I assume this is the distribution tube for the fuel? Can I just take out the head bolts, rocker arms and push rods, with out distrubing or taking the injector rail (I guess thats what it is called) If I have to take it off, any special procudure?

You are looking at the high pressure oil rail. You do have to take it off. I would recomend following the Head removal procedure guide. I used it and it was invaluable. Keep in mind there is a new update torquing sequence.

I also recommend you check out the information in the tech folder on changing injectors. The braided hose has a snap-to-connect fitting and requires a tool to remove it. I used a die grinder wrench that slips between the oil rail and the hose. The injectors need to come out before you remove the head also.
