engine swap

I was planning on putting a 5.0 efi in my 67 f 100. but when i got the engine and trans out of a 85 lincoln town car alot of the wiring was burned along with some sensors. i was wanting to know what all has to be changed to convert to a carburator

You'll obviously need the correct intake. Depending on how much destruction of the wiring and sensors there is, you may need to do something different for the distributor and ignition system. Otherwise, I don't see mechanically why you wouldn't be able to get it to work. I've seen people convert modern Hondas to dual carbs, so it can't be brain surgery to do it to a big piece of Dearborn metal.

Anybody else have input on the ignition system?

Aside from the manifold and carb, get the linkage setup from a 67-72 V8 pickup. If your distributor is fried, get one from any early eighties 302 along with the module, coil and wiring between them. The hookups for the temp and oil senders can extended from the present harness in the middle of the firewall.
