I would guess a worst-case-scenario PARTS-ONLY cost around $200. Labor rates where
I live are around $75/hour, I would expect everything could be diagnosed and repaired within
2 hours (once parts are in hand) but garages likely aren't going to work that way, they'll
probably go by what the book says.
That's my worst-case estimate for parts - alternator, regulator, fusible links, battery, cables,
solenoid, starter motor.

some color stripe on a 90s sedan) , all I'm saying is that I don't recall ever having seen a
WHITE wire as a ground, I am more used to black. Not trying to say such a thing didn't
ever exist, just that I have never seen (or don't remember seeing) it in vehicles of this
vintage.

Nah, that's OK, I've seen some weird colors used by Ford for grounds (e.g. green with
some color stripe on a 90s sedan) , all I'm saying is that I don't recall ever having seen a
WHITE wire as a ground, I am more used to black. Not trying to say such a thing didn't

Ford used black for ground the rest of the time for lighting.
