well a few days ago my 460 in red dawg started making a bad noise a deep low down thunking it sounds like either a main or a rod bearing going out my mechanic friend and i are sad.... its gonna be at least a $1000 deal just to get it back to being right gonna be replacing rings then the rod and main bearings and re gasket entire motor and maybe this time i pull it out i might actually paint it..... a just need to gather the $ to get it done without loosing too much hope in the process

You can do a rebuild for much less then 1k. I believe bearing and ring kits are sitting right around $500

Why would he buy another engine and heads? Pull the 460, spend the $500 on new bearings and rings and reinstall.

i plan on doing the re- ring, seal, and gasket method or i might have a lead on a stock 460 for $500 but i do not know the history on it so i am a little leary i just hate having to pull motors because where i do it at stuff seems to get stolen quite often last time they got 5 gal of gas a brand new battery and a super tanker radiator i f-ing hate thieves but i don't have a shop close to home to do it in so its my only real choice
