Major Ignition Problems

I have a 1992 Eddie Bauer Bronco with tilt, cruise control, and column shifter on the steering column. My initial problem was that my car would not stop running when I started it. I had to disconnect the battery and altenator to shut it off. I have replaced the ignition lock and ignition switch and the car will still not shut off. I now start and shut the car off directly at the ignition switch. I was told that the shaft that cuts the ignition switch on and off was broke. I was also told that on my year of Bronco that the whole steering column has to be replaced and my original cannot be fixed. Does anyone know if I can fix this without replacing my whole steering column?

What's that have to do with your Bronco?

I just took my junk column apart to see the rod, and it's a major pain, but it can be done. I just don't know where you'd get the replacement part if you did manage to disassemble yours.

You can buy repalcement parts at your local dealer. I recently Replaced the rod and the rotator in my steering colimn. It wasn't too bad. Just takes a little time and patients.

Used tilt columns are highly sought after and will run you 3-4 bills.

The '92-96 column is different from the older ones - after pulling my junk one apart, I doubt this part is sold separately.
