Carpet quality and fit

I know this question has been raised numerous times. Some of the forums are 7-10 years old. Looking for updated information. I am restoring a 1978 f150 2wd with a 351m and a C6 transmission. It is a regular cab. Is this a low tunnel and who has the best quality and fit of carpet? Has the quality changed since the old forums? Is ACC better now? I am going to order carpet soon. Thanks for all the advice.

I ordered my carpet from stock interiors, and it turned out great! I can try to find the pictures of it. But they have free color samples you can order before ordering the carpet kit.the edges were sewed up so they wouldn't frey. Been 5 years or so, and it still looks great!

I ordered mine over a year ago so I'm going on memory, but 99% sure I bought it from LMC. It fits... OK. Really hoped some time in the sun would help. It did make it slightly better, but still a little saggy for my liking around the hump. With that said, it's still a thousand times better than the old tired and dirty vinyl flooring I removed. Sorry this is the best picture I can find right now.

I'm pretty sure you want the high tunnel (removable cover) with the c6 not low tunnel (no removable cover).

Christmas gift?

I don't remember my '79 having a removable tunnel over the C6. But it was probably 25 years ago that I installed my ACC kit. Fit perfect and still looks good.
Sun faded a bit, but not bad considering it's age.

This is my transmission tunnel. Looks like I need the high tunnel carpet. Thanks for the help.

Please verify before ordering your carpet. I have a 4x4 with a manual transmission and the "hump" people are referring to is a metal piece that attaches above what you have shown in your picture. You would actually cut out the piece you see in your photo and the hump would sit above the cab floor.

Called ACC yesterday and the sales person had no idea about low tunnel vs high tunnel.

I went out and took a picture of the truck with the "hump"

I hope this helps.

I will cast my vote for the Anniston Custom Carpets (ACC). I have used and sold them for 35 years for a number of different cars and trucks. Never had a fitment or quality problem.

Good luck.

I'm all ears here. I believe 2wd auto were low hump. 4wd and 2wd with a stick should be high tunnel. I have very nice tan carpet replaced by the PO but will need to swap to high tunnel and get new carpet when I swap the E4OD in

Back in 2001 I purchased an ACC carpet from Autokrafters in black loop pile. The fit was pretty good but there is a gap between the sides of the carpet and the inside of the cab where your feet go and this has been noticed by others with the same carpet. My black carpet also faded to a bronze-ish color after 2 years in all of the spots exposed to sunlight (under the floor mats it's still black) -looks like you rubbed the copper based anti-sieze all over it.

When I replace my carpet I will look for a different brand. thats my $.02

Concur with the above concerning high and low humps.
