Performance
I have an 88 f150 and i have new plugs cap rotor and all the tune up stuff done and my gas mileage sucks. I know its not gonna get good gas mileage to begin with but im only getting about 7 miles to the gallon. I dont drive it hard either. I have only locked it in 4x4 maybe 3 times in the last year. Does anyone know of something i can do to it to improve my gas mileage. I live outside the city so i have to commute and even 10 per gallon would be a big improvement. Can someone please help?

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 03-Jan-03 AT 00:40 AM (EST)]have u tried k/n performance filters they go for about $30-$40 and this is the simplest way to bettering performance and gass millage. another thing is you might wana look into the after market cats. i believe that the quicker you can get air in(k/n filters) and out(high flow cat)= more power

My experience in replacing the air filter element alone with a K&N filter element is a waste of money. I have not observed any increase in performance or fuel milage.

Ditto here. My truck had a K&N when I bought it. I replaced it with a paper one and did not notice a bit of difference. Plus I've heard rumors of them not filtering as well, so I'll stick with paper.
