72 Ranger XLT Interior????
Hey everyone,
This is my first posting, although I have been following the forum for sometime. I am the proud 4th owner of a 1972 Ford F250 Ranger XLT Camper Special. She is a wonderful truck, with only 66k original miles. I was lucky enough to receive the full Ford build sheet and all original documentation with the truck. I have made some progress in deciphering all of the codes, but have come to realize that the seat covering isn't original. The Trim Code from the sheet is marked as "T" (Light and Pastel Cloth and Vinyl) which should match the cloth and woodgrain door panels. Does anyone have ideas on where I can get replacement door panels and seat cover material to match? I have tried LMC, Dennis Callahan, etc..., but they only appear to carry the basic single color vinyl/velour kits. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

McDobson, thanks for the reply and the welcome - both are appreciated. I went back and double checked LMC and they have hard plastic door panels for the 72 Ranger, but my XLT has cloth/vinyl/woodgrain panels that I can't seem to find anywhere. I'll take a picture and post it in a few minutes.

Only chance is to see if a local upholstery shop can make them - guys in my area said they could no longer get that chrome look trim that runs in two locations on the perimeter. I had my guy try to remove the woodgrain and chrome trim bead for re-use, but they are so strongly attached to the vinyl that that didn't work either. You can get the correct vinyl at a place in Oregon -
GOOD LUCK.

Phil105,
I was afraid that that was going to be the answer. The door panels I have aren't in terrible shape, so I guess they'll have to do until I find some better. I do have a follow-on question regarding the bench seat covers. Based on the build sheet (Code "T") am I to assume that this would be Parchemnet Vinyl with velour inserts that match the cloth on the door panels? If so, I'll check with the company you mentioned in the last post. I currently have a white (or maybe parchment) vinyl seat with black velour insert - I don't think that's original, but maybe someone can tell me if it is. I think I found what I need at fordification.com. Code "T" is listed here - 1972-pg-3. Thanks.
